Tai Chi & Qigong

Tai Chi or Taijiquan as it is less commonly known is a form of Traditional Chinese Martial Arts.

It is an ancient system of movement and mental focus designed to develop the body, mind, and spirit.

Taiji(太極) is most often translated to Supreme Ultimate and quan(拳) translates to mean Fist.

Traditional Taijiquan training often included empty hand forms, weapon forms, pushing hands, and Qigong(氣功).

Taijiquan is a form of human movement characterized by its upright posture and slow mindful movements.

Tai chi strengthens the bones, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and fascia, while improving flexibility, coordination, and balance.

Tai Chi cultivates peace of mind and is often considered moving meditation

Tai Chi comes in various styles and teaching methodologies. We teach Yang Style Tai Chi.

Our Tai Chi focuses on the development of Song(release) and Ting(listening) skills, basic movement patterns, standing postures, push hands drills, and the Yang 37 form.

These classes are suitable for those who have never practiced Tai Chi as well as for those that have. The class will last roughly 60 minutes in duration and will include a warm up, stretching, standing, song gong, and occasionally form practice.

Meditation

The practice of mediation is both simple and difficult, it comes in many forms and practices.

We offer direct and simple mediation classes predominately focused on the observing the breath.

Additionally, other various somatic based mediations will be practiced as well. Somatic in this context is in references to observing different aspects of the body through directed awareness.

Somatic meditation exercises will be specifically focused on releasing tension throughout the body and calming the mind.

This mediation class is non-denominational and is suitable for all that wish to begin benefiting from the practice of meditation.

Meditation classes will focus on cultivating a relaxed state of mind, and a more mobile body.

Class will begin with gentle joint loosening exercises and stretches to prepare the body for meditation and to improve our mediation practice.

The class will last roughly 60 minutes in duration and will include a warm up, stretching, and meditation.
